Heather Pedersen, LCSW, LCADC

Hi, I’m Heather Pedersen, LCSW, LCADC. I have several years of experience supporting teens, young adults, and adults with substance use and mental health concerns. If you want to make changes and improve the quality of your day to day and long-term life, I can help you. I will work with you as a compassionate therapist to learn practical, down-to-earth skills that will allow you to live the life you want.

Over the years, I have also developed skills and experience specifically tailored towards helping new moms and dads and moms to be. In my opinion, perinatal mental health needs are often overlooked in favor of “taking care of the kids first”, and delaying or denying your own self-care. I am here to help you learn to navigate the new challenges pregnancy and parenthood bring into your life, and to give your child the gift of having the healthiest and happiest parents possible. Many new moms struggle with depression, intrusive thoughts, excessive worry, anxiety, and other issues that come with the new responsibilities and realities of parenthood.

I am comfortable working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives. Multi-cultural sensitivity and training allows me to be responsive to the specific needs of my individual clients and their families. Clients with developmental disabilities and neuro-diverse perspectives will find my office to be a safe, non-judgemental, and regulating space to help them sort out their own unique perspectives on life problems we all deal with. We will use a strength-based approach to help them reach their goals and full potential.

Heather Pedersen’s Experience

I’ve worked with both adolescents and adults since 2008. The majority of my work has been in Sussex County, which gives me a perspective on the culture and the people who live there. Along with my community-based experience, I have worked in both residential and outpatient settings, as well as with adults who have developmental and intellectual disabilities and serious mental health concerns.

In addition to seeing clients at Willow Tree Therapy Services I’m currently working with adults and adolescents in an outpatient facility utilizing behavioral interventions, as well as working with adolescents in a community-based setting. I utilize a strength-based approach when working with individuals to assist them in reaching their goals.

If you feel we might be a good fit in working through your current challenges, feel free to reach out and request an appointment.
